Jurlique is a global company that develops market-leading biodynamic beauty products. It uses natural ingredients, grown on its own farms. The extent of integration in its supply chain - from the seed to the bottle - is unique in the beauty industry.
Established in 2008, Jurlique R & D is based in Adelaide and provides the scientific know-how to improve and expand Jurlique’s product range. It discovers and develops new ingredients and new formulations, drawing on the expertise of a highly qualified, multinational team.
Its researchers and management have decades of experience in biochemistry, phytobiochemistry, molecular biology and the biosciences. From its base at the BioSA Incubator, Jurlique R & D is also forming partnerships with South Australia’s wider research community to advance its research and development programmes.
Understanding of human skin has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. Today, it is no longer considered a “sausage skin” that covers the body. Human skin is now known to be the largest organ of the human body: a hive of biochemical activity.
Jurlique R & D uses science to understand human skin at a molecular level in its pursuit of new and improved natural beauty products.
Jurlique R & D is also responsible for regulatory affairs, product safety, claim support and global compliance. Its aims are to give Jurlique products a truly scientific foundation and to push the technology within Jurlique’s products to the next level – ensuring its skincare, sunscreens, personal care and other beauty products perform to customers’ expectations and deliver the promise.
“As a bioscience company, the BioSA Incubator offers us a unique opportunity to integrate with South Australia’s wider scientific community. We want to engage with the state’s academic landscape and use new collaborations to advance our products.”
- Dr. Florian Wolf, Managing Director Jurlique R&D P / L
